I know where we are, but not where we're going

Caught up with Tobin for a Saturday morning chopper ride in the desert. West side where I saw an old biker breaking camp at the K-mart parking lot. North towards Cave creek. Avoid the trendy spots and ticket crazy cops. Carefree hi-way to Pima to Dynamite and the back way into Fountain hills. Really hot when we got back into town. Fun!

Stopped in to see Pat & Tim in Oregon. They just got back from Bonneville. The managed to run an old generator shovelhead over 100mph on the salt. Not bad for a first attempt. I slept on the floor of the old cabin near the home made woodstove.

Deep compound shape, took all day to hammer out but finally came together. Tuck shrinking and hammer roughing. Helve hammer, planishing hammer, and english wheel used to finish out.

Travel Itinerary

When you travel without a plan and you end up checking into a dodgy hotel in Coalinga California just as your sketchy relay bypass grounds against the frame and lets the smoke out of the wires. They only accept cash and suggest you put your bike in the courtyard. So you hide it under the steps next to the orange cones and the drip bucket. The room makes you itchy. The next day the hotel owner offers some connecters to fix the wires. All is well.

Beyond Hope

I knew it would come to this, I finished my trip around the States. Arrived home today before noon. This stretch was from Tacoma back to Phoenix. Photo taken outside of Hope, Arizona.
